The University of Botswana, situated at the heart of the country’s capital city Gaborone, is the first institution of higher learning established in Botswana in the year 1982. The university has an enrolment of 18,000 across five Faculties and the School of Medicine. The university’s mission and vision statement is ‘To improve economic and social conditions for the Nation while advancing itself as a distinctively African university with a regional and international outlook.’

The University of Botswana

The Institut National de Recherche Biomédicale (INRB) founded in 1984, is a 70,000 Sq. ft. facility that serves as the National Laboratory for Biomedical Research for the Ministry of Health in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and is a World Health Organization collaborating center since 2018,that is headed by Professor Muyembe Tamfum, M.D., Ph.D. It is a multi-disciplinary institute that collectively has hundreds of years of experience both in the identification, treatment, and prevention of disease within the DRC. The Institute is a modern-type structured research institute consisting of six Laboratories dedicated to Virology, Parasitology, Bacteriology, Medical Entomology, Clinical Biology, Pathology, including an Animal Research Facility and Data Center. Each laboratory consists of a dedicated director and staff, which also includes both students and international collaborators.
